Our Story

Seven years, mostly laughing

From a shared paperback neither of us bought, to a field full of olive trees in the Hunter Valley.

September 2019

A bookshop, of all places

Neither of us bought the book. Both of us left with something better.

We met at the launch of a friend's bookshop, both reaching for the same battered novel neither of us bought. James asked for Amelia's coffee order instead of her number — it took three weeks and one very patient mutual friend to correct that.

March 2022

A tiny flat and a large decision

Somewhere between the second lockdown and the third, we started living in the future we'd been talking about.

Two people, one very small apartment in Newtown, and a herb garden that refused to die. We learned to cook properly, to argue kindly, and to make a very small kitchen feel like enough.

Sunrise, and a ring

She said yes before he finished the sentence.

On a cold, clear morning on the cliffs at Watsons Bay, James produced a ring he had been quietly hiding in his climbing pack for four months. We sat there until the sun was properly up, laughing at nothing in particular.

And now, this

Vines, olive trees, and all of our favourite people in one place.

A very long table under the stars, the people who raised us and the friends who keep us honest, and a weekend we have been quietly planning for two years. We cannot wait to see you there.

And now all that's left is to get everyone we love into one field.
